What is NAC?

Cytoplan NAC is a high-strength bioavailable form of the sulphur amino acid cysteine, which promotes the synthesis of glutathione, the body's master antioxidant. Essential for detoxification, NAC provides antioxidant support at a cellular level. Cysteine is considered a conditionally essential amino becoming essential during periods of illness or stress, or when dietary intake is low. The requirement for cysteine can therefore increase beyond the body’s ability to synthesise it.

NAC benefits

NAC plays a crucial role in maintaining glutathione levels, a powerful ‘master’ antioxidant that protects our cells from oxidative stress and free radical damage. Glutathione is important for immune function, detoxification, and healthy ageing. By reducing oxidative stress, it also helps support brain health and cognitive function. Glutathione levels can become easily depleted by toxins, poor diet, stress, and ageing. NAC also plays an important role in phase 2 detoxification (sulphation), supporting thyroid health, connective tissue, lung tissue, and circulatory system health.
