Organic

50g of Organic Dandelion Leaf packaged in our plant-based cellulose compostable bags.

Leaves of the dandelion plant that have been harvested, cleaned, and dried. Drying preserves the nutrients and bitterness, making them suitable for teas, infusions, and cooking.

Flavour & aroma

Bitter, earthy, and slightly peppery, with a dry, green aroma. Drying intensifies the bitterness slightly, but also concentrates nutrients.

Common culinary uses

  • Herbal tea / infusion – the most common use; steep 1–2 teaspoons per cup
  • Soups & stews – add like other dried leafy greens
  • Smoothies – a pinch for nutrition and gentle bitterness
  • Cooking – can be rehydrated and sautéed with garlic, olive oil, or butter
  • Herbal blends – often combined with nettle, peppermint, or chamomile

Tip: Crushing dried leaves lightly before steeping releases more flavour and beneficial compounds.

Traditional & practical benefits

(Traditional use — not medical advice)

  • Digestive support – stimulates bile and digestion
  • Mild diuretic – supports kidney and urinary function
  • Liver support – traditional use for detoxification
  • Nutrient-rich – contains vitamins A, C, K, calcium, iron, potassium
  • Antioxidant properties – polyphenols preserved in dried form

Dried dandelion leaf was historically used in teas as a spring “tonic” for gentle cleansing and overall wellness.

Preparation & use

  • Tea / infusion: 1–2 teaspoons per cup, steep 5–10 minutes in hot water
  • Cooking: rehydrate in water or simmer in soups
  • Blending: add directly to smoothies; bitterness can be balanced with fruit or honey

Storage & shelf life

  • Store in airtight container in a cool, dark, dry place
  • Best quality and potency within 12 months
  • Leaves should remain green; brown or dusty leaves indicate age

Classic pairings

  • Lemon or citrus (to offset bitterness)
  • Honey (for tea)
  • Other herbal leaves: nettle, peppermint, chamomile
  • Garlic or olive oil (for cooking)
